WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JUST GO FOR IT, AND START LIVING THE LIFE YOU LOVE? WAS THERE A TURNING POINT OR AN ‘A-HA’ MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU REALISED YOU NEEDED TO MAKE THE CHANGE?
I’ve had loads of ah-ha moments in my life that have called me to step closer to my truth. And I hope that I continue to. But as far as purpose goes and loving my life, I’ve always struggled when I’ve tried to do things that don’t align. I feel agitated, uncomfortable, anxious, depressed and think of every possible way to get out of the current situation.
My body physically doesn’t let me live in a way that doesn’t serve my highest self.
And when you’ve felt how good it feels to live on purpose, it’s so damn hard to settle for anything else. You can’t unknow that feeling!
HOW IS YOUR LIFE DIFFERENT NOW AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?
In some ways I feel like I’m the same person I always was, and in some ways I feel like I wouldn’t recognise my old self if she walked in my front door. I really believe that from the day I was born, and hopefully until the day I leave this life, that I will continue to step into myself. To feel more, to expand inwardly and to share who I am on the inside, with the outside world.
Which might sound simple, but I find it a moment to moment conscious decision. To show up as me.
To not allow fear to be my guide, to not feel ashamed or embarrassed of who I am, or what I love.
Over the past few years I really feel I’ve come into my own, and I say that with such pride. For a long time I was a people pleaser above all else, and to stand in my truth and own who I am, has been the most amazing act of self love I have ever accomplished.
I can say with truth and core radiating happiness that I love who I am today. Scars and all.
But don’t let that fool you, I have low days, moments where I ask myself – why do I do this? What is the point? But it’s what happens in those moments, and how I speak to myself then, that really matters.
WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST FEAR OR BLOCK (EMOTIONAL, MENTAL OR PHYSICAL) THAT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME TO GET WHERE YOU ARE, AND HOW DID YOU BREAK THROUGH IT?
As a coach, I’m always finding blocks and fears within myself. It’s like I’m hardwired now to see them!
The biggest one for me has been trusting that if I show up as myself that everything will always be ok. And when it might not appear to be ok, that in fact it actually is.
Letting go of control and deeply trusting is something that I work on just about every single day, and starting a new business has reminded me how important that is!
I’ve established that the core of my biggest blocks are around abundance. In the way of health and finances.
As I said, I work on it all the time.
HOW DID OPENING UP AND ‘BEING AUTHENTICALLY YOU’ AFFECT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU OR YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM?
Something amazing happens when you begin to step into your own light. People close to you either see you and want to know more. They want to lean in, understand and ask questions. These are generally the ones living from love.
Then the others, usually dictated by fear, will shut you out, criticise, judge and not support you. But that’s ok. We’re all on our own journeys, and all you can do is send them love.
DID YOU FACE ANY JUDGEMENTS OR CRITICISMS, WHETHER FROM YOURSELF OR OTHERS?
Probably. But that’s none of my business.
I was put on this earth to be me, and be the whole me. That won’t be some peoples cup of tea, and that’s ok!
It’s not my job to convince people to agree with me, or walk a path like mine. It’s my job to be me.
Haters gonna hate. Right?
WHAT IS YOUR TRUE ESSENCE? THE NATURAL PART OF YOUR BEING THAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL.
Wow. I love this question, because you’ve got me thinking!
And you know, I’m not sure I have an answer for it.
What I do know is that my highest value, my greatest purpose, is to nurture. And right now I do that through coaching. In that past I did that as a makeup artist, and in the future I hope I do that as a mother.
When I nurture, I feel most alive, and I know that’s what I’m here in this lifetime to do.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOURSELF?
There’s lots I love about who I am, but the first thing that comes to mind right now, is that I love that I’m so open and honest. I’m real and raw, and speak the truth. I never play games, tell stories or fabricate lies.
I proudly stand in my truth.
WHERE DO YOU FIND BEAUTY AND INSPIRATION?
Without a doubt, Mother Nature. I connect with nature every day because it reminds me what matters most. It grounds my physically and emotionally.
I’m a water baby, and swim almost everyday in the warmer months. I’m lucky enough to live close to the water, and I’m really grateful for that.
When the weather cools down I like walking, picnics and soaking up a little bit of midday sun.
AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO DO?
Being creative, playing, spending time with my family, being near the water, dancing, playing with animals.
WHAT LIGHTS YOU UP AND WHY?
People living their truth. Particularly women.
Avocado on toast and chai tea
Adventures with my love.
Swimming in the ocean.
I’m not sure exactly why, all I know is they all fill my heart with fire, and make me feel all warm and fuzzy!
WHEN LIFE GETS BUSY, OVERWHELMING AND THE NEGATIVITY STARTS TO CREEP IN, HOW DO YOU UNWIND AND ALLOW YOURSELF TO ‘JUST BE’?
Yoga, mediation, time in nature, journaling, essential oils and a good chat with my mum (she always knows what to say!)
I think it’s really important to have your own little toolkit of things to turn to when you’re feeling like you need some help. Find what works for you, and make note of it.
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE WANTING TO RECONNECT WITH THEIR OWN NATURAL WAY OF BEING AND FIND THE BEAUTY WITHIN THEMSELVES?
Do something everyday that makes you feel good from the inside out. I believe this is the best way to begin to love yourself, or to deepen your love.
It doesn’t have to be big, huge and scary, start small. Sit in the sun while you eat lunch, read that book you’re loving, take a bath, cuddle your pet. Start small, just make it regular!
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE YOU?
All I know is what it feels like to be me, so all I can compare it to was a time when it didn’t feel good.
Now I live a life that I love, I face challenges with love, and I choose to be the truest version of myself every single day.
So I guess, it feels pretty damn amazing!
