I absolutely love what Jodie is doing in the world! Using her experience working as a finance manager in the corporate world for the last 11 years she also loves to share her insights and encourage others to kick goals in their careers and businesses.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JUST GO FOR IT, AND START LIVING THE LIFE YOU LOVE? WAS THERE A TURNING POINT OR AN ‘A-HA’ MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU REALISED YOU NEEDED TO MAKE THE CHANGE?

On paper I have the life I had always dreamed of. Big office with a fancy title, moving up the corporate ladder, amazing husband, family and friends. I am very ambitious and I was always striving to achieve my goals. What I wasn’t doing though is listening to how I was feeling along the way. I wasn’t being true to myself. I was being a version of me that I thought everyone else wanted me to be. In the last few years I have realised after connecting with many other people that there is nothing more important than being true to yourself. Since releasing the expectations I thought everyone else had of me I have been living a life much more aligned with my values. I am so much happier now.

HOW IS YOUR LIFE DIFFERENT NOW AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?

My life is so much more daring, fun and passion driven now that I am being more true to myself. Just being able to be present and enjoy each moment instead of worry about the future all the time has been a massive shift for me. I feel like life flows more and I focus my energy into things that truly light me up.

WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST FEAR OR BLOCK (EMOTIONAL, MENTAL OR PHYSICAL) THAT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME TO GET WHERE YOU ARE, AND HOW DID YOU BREAK THROUGH IT?

My biggest fear was of failure and not having enough. After growing up in a household where money was very tight, I knew I never wanted to end up in that situation. I worked very hard in the corporate world in finance to climb the career ladder and I still never felt secure. Even with a great job and savings behind me I was still worried about my future. The way I learned to overcome this fear has been to realise I can’t control everything. I have set myself up for my future now and I have made sure I am regularly investing which has helped me release this fear. I now know that I have enough in my life and I know that I deserve to have enough.

HOW DID OPENING UP AND ‘BEING AUTHENTICALLY YOU’ AFFECT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU OR YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM?

I think opening up and being myself was a big relief. It made my relationships become even genuine and it also meant I wasn’t trying to be someone I wasn’t. It even helped me in my career as people starting coming to me with different opportunities that were more aligned with my strengths. Writing has also been a great outlet for me to keep discovering who I really am.

DID YOU FACE ANY JUDGEMENTS OR CRITICISMS, WHETHER FROM YOURSELF OR OTHERS?

I was constantly critising myself and thought that would drive me even further to success. I couldn’t have been more wrong though. As soon as I starting treating myself better and stopped listening to that mean inner voice, life got so much easier. Generally I got a lot of positive feedback from everyone in my life. As I get older though I think the fear of what other people think becomes much less of a driving force in how I live my life.

WHAT IS YOUR TRUE ESSENCE? THE NATURAL PART OF YOUR BEING THAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL.

My true essence is a passion driven, curious, loving, extrovert who loves dance, write and inspire others to live their best lives. I would say what makes me different would be my ability to connect with most people from many different walks of life. I try to be as free from judgment as possible and when I meet someone and I believe pretty much everyone has a good heart.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOURSELF?

I love my big smile, my ability to be a good listener and friend, I am someone that likes to live life to the fullest, I don’t take anything for granted, my generosity and my nurturing qualities and big heart.

WHERE DO YOU FIND BEAUTY AND INSPIRATION?

I find so much beauty in nature as clichéd as it sounds. After spending a week connected to nature in Byron Bay a few weeks ago I felt so much better being close to the ocean and out in the sun each day. I spend every morning outside when the sun is rising and this inspires me to go out and get the world each day.

AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO DO?

I loved to dance, run, ride my bike, rollerblades or skateboard around. I was a very active kid who was always on the run. Nothing much has changed since becoming an adult except I would love to get back into dancing.

WHAT LIGHTS YOU UP AND WHY?

People who help others and live a life where they truly value themselves. I get excited when I connect with like-minded women and have deep soulful conversations. I love being able to spend time with my hubby, family and friends and really cherish these moments. I know now more than ever how important it is to be fully present in my life. I want to enjoy every moment and not just worry about what is coming next.

WHEN LIFE GETS BUSY, OVERWHELMING AND THE NEGATIVITY STARTS TO CREEP IN, HOW DO YOU UNWIND AND ALLOW YOURSELF TO ‘JUST BE’?

I practice yoga or light a candle, and listen to a guided meditation. I also like to schedule out time on the weekend for myself with no distractions. Time to read a book or to chill out and listen to podcasts that I love. It is so easy to be busy and say yes to every social occasion and work request but the gold is in learning to say no. Pulling back and knowing when I need a break is essential for me not to burn out. I do find it hard in my job in the corporate world sometimes to slow down but I ensure I create some zen in every part of my life.

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE WANTING TO RECONNECT WITH THEIR OWN NATURAL WAY OF BEING AND FIND THE BEAUTY WITHIN THEMSELVES?

I have done lots of things over the last few years such as acupuncture, visited health retreats, started practicing yoga, learnt how to say no, and changed my diet, also started listening to my intuition more. One thing that has helped me reconnect with my own natural way of being has also been through having a life and business coach. Having a coach has lifted my confidence and also helped me tune into who I really am and what I want in my life.

The Mind Detox sessions that I had with you, Heidi was also another big part of my journey to connecting with my natural way of being. It was an amazing journey through my subconscious that also led me closer to being more in tune with my higher self. After the sessions I felt so much lighter and in tune with how I was making the same decisions over and over again based on what I had learned at a very young age. It has helped me become a more true version of myself.

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE YOU?

It feels pretty damn good. I went through years of struggling with my own self worth and other issues and now I finally feel more at peace. It is so nice to be living your life in a way that aligns with how you want to live it. I am learning how to be more vulnerable each day and hopefully will share this even more on my blog in the future.
