WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JUST GO FOR IT, AND START LIVING THE LIFE YOU LOVE? WAS THERE A TURNING POINT OR AN ‘A-HA’ MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU REALISED YOU NEEDED TO MAKE THE CHANGE?
I would say my turning point came when I had a major yelling match with the Universe when I was around 18. I had been very sick for 10 years and told the Universe that enough was enough. This was not the life I was destined to live. I literally gave the Universe an ultimatum – I get the life I want and deserve – one full of good health, love and being able to truly enjoy life or I am done with living. It was a real low point; but I must have made a compelling case, because a miracle happened and my life started to change 100% for the better.
HOW IS YOUR LIFE DIFFERENT NOW AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?
I wake up every day, grateful for the life I have now. I am also thankful for the journey I had to go to get here, as it has helped me become the person I am today. It gave me a deep strength and connection to myself, and an ability to look beyond pain and see beauty. These days I have such a deep love and respect for myself, that I cannot do anything that dishonours my true self. When I was younger I was very insecure and held so much anger and deep hurt; but these days I am much lighter and full of love, not only for myself but for all around me.
WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST FEAR OR BLOCK (EMOTIONAL, MENTAL OR PHYSICAL) THAT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME TO GET WHERE YOU ARE, AND HOW DID YOU BREAK THROUGH IT?
I wouldn’t say that I had a greatest fear or block, but rather a bunch of them that over time I am healing and releasing. This was not an overnight clear out, but a shift that has been happening since I was 18. It is a bit like an onion, many layers to clear.
HOW DID OPENING UP AND ‘BEING AUTHENTICALLY YOU’ AFFECT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU OR YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM?
In most cases it really strengthened them. I found I could connect more deeply in my relationships and I was more open to just being me with me. The change definitely meant that I had to let some friendships go, but I am thankful for what time we had together and all our memories. This empty space was then able to be filled with the most beautiful souls, and I cherish my relationships now with all my heart. I am very blessed.
DID YOU FACE ANY JUDGEMENTS OR CRITICISMS, WHETHER FROM YOURSELF OR OTHERS?
All the time! Yet my caring is pretty low on what others think these days. There was a time when I relied so much on what others thought of me, but these days the only one I am out to impress is myself. When you don’t believe in yourself, you search for someone else to believe in you. Well my motto is ‘Be your own hero, Be your number 1 cheerleader in all you do!’ Saying that, I have an amazing support team of family and friends who have always had my back and are always there for me: come rain, hail or shine.
WHAT IS YOUR TRUE ESSENCE? THE NATURAL PART OF YOUR BEING THAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL.
Light. I believe in the Light within me, the Light that is always shining inside and radiates out to be shared with the world. They say it is better to turn on the Light than curse the dark: well I see the Light in us all; we just need to remember to turn on our Light and to let it shine out to the world. If we all did this, there would be no darkness to curse!
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOURSELF?
WHERE DO YOU FIND BEAUTY AND INSPIRATION?
I am inspired every day by Mother Nature: her strength, ability to transform, and her patience and love. I find beauty in so many things; from people’s acts of kindness, to hearing stories of the best of humanity working together to make our world a better place. There is beauty and inspiration everywhere; sometimes you just need to close your eyes to see it. (I am pretty sure I stole that line from a famous quote!)
AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO DO?
I had a huge imagination, so I was always off on an adventure of some kind. I loved to read, be in nature and dancing ballet. Actually I still do all those things… Guess I am just a big kid!
WHAT LIGHTS YOU UP AND WHY?
Connecting to like-minded beautiful souls who are living their bliss. Also my family, friends and my dog Timothy.
WHEN LIFE GETS BUSY, OVERWHELMING AND THE NEGATIVITY STARTS TO CREEP IN, HOW DO YOU UNWIND AND ALLOW YOURSELF TO ‘JUST BE’?
I go be in nature. I love to either walk along the beach with my feet in the water at sunset, or hiking in the mountains. When I see a gum tree my whole being just sighs and lets go of all my stress. If the weather is cold and wet (not my fav) then I will either have a relaxing magnesium and rose/lavender bath or just curl up in front of the fire with a good book and a cup of tea.
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE WANTING TO RECONNECT WITH THEIR OWN NATURAL WAY OF BEING AND FIND THE BEAUTY WITHIN THEMSELVES?
Go within and listen. You know the way. Trust and believe in the beautiful Light that is YOU!
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE YOU?
Pretty damn amazing!
