WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JUST GO FOR IT, AND START LIVING THE LIFE YOU LOVE? WAS THERE A TURNING POINT OR AN ‘A-HA’ MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU REALISED YOU NEEDED TO MAKE THE CHANGE?
My turning point came after hitting my lowest point (as they so often do), I knew in this moment that the choice was mine, stay as I was or change. The change didn’t happen immediately, in fact it is still happening now, but my mindset had shifted in that moment, from thinking life was happening to me, to realising that the power was actually mine. Once you own that, your life has already changed. Then of course it’s time to do the work, get clear on what you want for yourself + take consistent + aligned action steps towards it.
HOW IS YOUR LIFE DIFFERENT NOW AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?
It is such a funny feeling because I feel like a different person + yet more myself than I’ve ever been. I finally feel like I am in alignment with the person I was born to be. I always felt like there was something more to my life + a purpose to why I am here in this lifetime.
While I’m still not sure of the whole picture, I definitely know that I am on the right track.
I have a gratitude for my life that I didn’t have before + that has been a game changer for me.
WHAT WAS YOUR GREATEST FEAR OR BLOCK (EMOTIONAL, MENTAL OR PHYSICAL) THAT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME TO GET WHERE YOU ARE, AND HOW DID YOU BREAK THROUGH IT?
I actually live with chronic pain syndrome + have for the last (almost) 10 years. This challenges me on every level, physically, emotionally + mentally. I originally got so stuck on the fact that I was now different to how I had been + that life could no longer go as I had planned. I had to adjust the way I did things, how I could show up, my entire way of thinking no longer served me. My whole life had changed.
It was reading Louise Hay’s, ‘You can heal your life’ that first opened up my mind to the concept that maybe this pain had a deeper meaning to it + that I had lessons to learn + blocks + beliefs to uncover + let go of. From there I started to flip things around + ask what if this had happened for a reason? What if the fact that my life couldn’t continue as I had planned + changing my way of thinking, was because there was so much more possible + meant for me then I had imagined for myself?
I am still finding the answers to those questions but by flipping my mindset, I was able to go from being the victim in my story, to the writer of my story.
HOW DID OPENING UP AND ‘BEING AUTHENTICALLY YOU’ AFFECT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU OR YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM?
I like to think I’ve always been very open + authentic with the people in my life, however as I was growing + evolving, the person that I had been, started to change + so naturally that did impact some of the relationships in my life. Some evolved with me + others drifted apart.
It wasn’t always easy to let go + there were the times that I like to call ‘the in between friends stage’ when it felt like I didn’t have anyone close to me. As a person who loves connection, this was very challenging.
I made a real effort to put myself out there + continue connecting with like minded people + this has lead to me having new + beautiful friendships for this stage in my journey as well as being able to be fully myself (+ loved for it) with those who were in my life earlier.
DID YOU FACE ANY JUDGEMENTS OR CRITICISMS, WHETHER FROM YOURSELF OR OTHERS?
I think we all are questioning + judging ourselves to some extent in our lives, especially when we are making changes + new choices. The more you open yourself up, the louder that inner mean girl gets. That’s where practicing self love is such an important part of your journey.
I definitely have felt judged by others + had comments made that felt like criticisms.
I decided a long time ago that I was never going to let others opinions dictate my life + decisions, so while it can be easy to fall into the trap of justifying yourself or wanting people to approve of you + your choices, I make a conscious effort to come back into my truth + remind myself that as long as I’m good with it + it is aligned with my intentions then that is all that matters.
WHAT IS YOUR TRUE ESSENCE? THE NATURAL PART OF YOUR BEING THAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL.
My soul. She is the part of me that goes beyond this world + lifetime. When I’m quiet enough + let her lead the way, that’s when I know I am most me. That is when my personality, emotions + experiences take a back seat + the real magic can happen.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOURSELF?
Ooh great question, once upon a time I wouldn’t have been able to answer this question, but after years of working on my relationship with myself, I can say that there are lots of things I love about myself.
I love my passion + drive, these are the qualities I have been gifted that allow me to go after what I want + am dreaming of.
I love my strength + determination, without these I wouldn’t be here today.
I love that I am an empath, sensitive + feel so deeply.
And I love my eyes. Even in my darkest days there has always been a little twinkle in my eye.
WHERE DO YOU FIND BEAUTY AND INSPIRATION?
Human Beings. For me I feel the most inspired when I see or hear stories of human kindness + bravery. When I see people defy the odds, when I hear children asking questions about the way the world works + wanting better, when I see people choose love over hate. It can be the smallest act of kindness, to the biggest moments in history, it truly doesn’t matter, but to me there is nothing more beautiful or inspiring then when people stand up for each other + do good in the world.
AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO DO?
Imagine! One of my favourite things about children + their innocence is the power of their imagination + I had a wild one. I think that’s why I love visualisations so much now, because they are a way for me to tap back into that part of my mind + freedom. I truly love the power of being able to see + feel my dreams at anytime.
When I was little I would imagine EVERYTHING!
WHAT LIGHTS YOU UP AND WHY?
Hearing another woman say she is proud of herself. The work I get to do as a coach, honestly lights me up in a way that I had always hoped to feel but didn’t realise could come from helping others. Getting to stand beside beautiful, smart, funny, creative + passionate women, cheering them on, reflecting their strengths + reminding them of their greatness all while supporting them to build a heart centred business that helps others too, well I don’t think it can get much better than that for me.
WHEN LIFE GETS BUSY, OVERWHELMING AND THE NEGATIVITY STARTS TO CREEP IN, HOW DO YOU UNWIND AND ALLOW YOURSELF TO ‘JUST BE’?
My go-to tool for this is actually to have a horizontal life pause aka a nap. Seriously for me there is nothing better then closing my eyes, letting my brain switch off + pressing pause on life for awhile. As someone who struggles to unwind + ‘be’ this baby works every time.
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE WANTING TO RECONNECT WITH THEIR OWN NATURAL WAY OF BEING AND FIND THE BEAUTY WITHIN THEMSELVES?
Make your relationship with yourself a priority!
To help you reconnect + find your beauty from within, you must first cultivate a strong sense of self + make the time to allow it to grow.
That doesn’t mean having to DO more but rather carving out the space to just BE, because when you do you are able to tap into your intuition + really hear what’s in your heart + lead from that place each day.
