Guide to Layering Skincare Products for Maximum Benefits

Layering skincare can be confusing to many people as there are so many types of skincare. But when you do this correctly, you can achieve radiant and healthy skin. In this article, we will look at the correct way to do this so that you can get the maximum benefit of your skincare products.

When choosing Ciencia Skincare products, you have to understand your skin type and what products are most suited for them. The skin types you will come across are oily, dry, combination, sensitive and normal. There are different products and care needed for each type of skin and by first identifying your skin type, you can start to choose the right products. Cleansing is the first step in a skincare routine and this will remove any makeup, dirt and oil on your face. You need to use a cleanser that is suited to your skin type. A foaming cleaner or a gel cleanser will be a good option for oily or acne prone skin. If you have sensitive or dry skin, a hydrating or cream cleanser will be best. You can also look into double cleansing which is a good option especially if you are wearing makeup. This is where you use an oil based cleanser first and then a water based cleanser. Toners will help balance the pH of your skin and this will prepare your skin to absorb the products that are coming later on in the skincare routine. You can choose a toner based on your skincare concerns. You can choose a hydrating toner that has ingredients such as hyaluronic acid. Or if you want to control oil, you can select a toner with salicylic acid.

Then comes an essence which is a lightweight and hydrating product.

This will help improve the absorption of serums and moisturisers. These have active ingredients that will target different skin issues. You can pat the essence onto your skin gently and make sure that it is distributed evenly. Then comes the serums which are concentrated treatments. These will address specific skin concerns you have. These will have a high concentration of ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid etc. You can layer serums to get the highest benefit. When using multiple serums, make sure to start from the thinnest consistency and then progress to the thickest consistency.

There are different targeted treatments you can do after serums.

This can be prescription medications, acne spot treatments, retinoids etc. These are potent products that should be used little at a time. Your dermatologist will tell you how much to use these products and whether there are some products that cannot be used with the treatment. You can then start moisturising so that all the hydration you have added to the face can be locked in. This will protect your skin from environmental stressors. The moisturiser can be selected based on the skin type. There are oil free lightweight formulas for oily skin and if you have dry skin, there are creamy formulas to choose from. Make sure to add sunscreen as your last step.
